This is an archive of the work suggestions which have been published on The Work page.  It must be reiterated that the suggestions are not rules or rituals of any kind.  They serve only as intentional jolts throughout the day to wake ourselves up as well as cause us to see why we do certain things.  They create opportunities to to expose Ego and learn the True Self.

11/03/10 Find your "whistling in the dark" attitudes and see the self deception that causes them.

10/23/10 Substitute the words "good" and "bad" with the words "true" and "false" and pay attention to how differently you see life.

9/7/10
Fearlessly and honestly question everything you tell others about yourself.

8/12/10 Choose a quote that is very meaningful to you and try to see a new or deeper meaning in it that you have not seen or understood before.

5/27/10 Find a small habit you have never seen before and break it whenever you can.

5/18/10 Realize that all words have been prejudiced by your mind.  See these prejudices as you listen, read or speak words. See their basic meaning apart from that prejudice.

4/9/10 Listen attentively to yourself speak.

3/25/10 See they toys that you play with called emotions.  Identify your favorites, particularly the unsuspected ones.

3/11/10 Identify an emotion you are experiencing and focus on its physical presence in your body.  See it as any other physical sensation such as warmth, coldness, irritation, etc.  See it detached from psychology and thought.

2/23/10 See that when you think you are trying to understand, that you are really trying to be understood.

2/16/10 In each person that you meet, see that what you like and dislike about them has nothing to do with True Nature.

12/29/09 Identify a non-traditional teacher in your life.

12/21/09 Resist the temptation to quote famous teachers and authors to others and instead consider the quote in mind internally.  Ask how you could use the lesson yourself.

11/27/09 Before you add any new and helpful (true) thought process to your life, identify a harmful one you can first drop to make room for the new one.

11/11/09 Examine the expressions on the faces of people you are are speaking to.  Look for something you had not noticed before.  See if you can learn more about yourself through this experiment.

11/04/09 Question your questions.  Examine the true nature of your questions, particularly about inner development, and see that often they have ulterior motives.  For example, catch yourself asking "how," when you are really asking "how can I get out of."  There are many more examples, find some.

10/30/09  De-personalize characteristics that you see as your faults. When you identify errors or shortcomings, cease to see them as yours.  Treat them as being visitors, not residents of the entity that you call YOU.  And then...watch how uncomfortable that is for you.  This will teach you a valuable lesson.

10/23/09 See how you are continually asking yourself whether you agree or disagree with everything you see, hear or read.  Decide to consciously avoid agreeing or disagreeing with anything and instead simply try to understand it.

10/20/09 Before you ask for advice, consider whether or not you have any intentions to follow it.

10/9/09  Make an attempt to not speak about yourself in any conversation, unless asked, and then answer only to the specific question.

9/24/09 Decline an invitation to participate in an event which you feel obligated to attend.  This could be a social gathering or simply a group of unconscious complainers.

9/9/09 Bring at least one unconscious (hidden) thought to the level of consciousness by way of awareness and self discovery.

9/2/09 Set some fixture in daily life (an object, place or passageway)  as a reminder to shake yourself from your sleep.  Then when ever you pass that fixture, wake up.

8/26/09 Discover false knowledge that is blocking the way of True Knowledge.

8/20/09 Examine how you learn.  When you learn something new, examine its origin and epoch.  Did the knowledge come by way of another person or by self insight?

8/13/09 Discover prejudice by seeing how you judge people you do not like for making the same error as people you do happen to like.  See how you twist the circumstances in your mind as to not appear the hypocrite.  This will show you three false images you maintain.

8/6/09 Whenever you feel angry, find the fear that causes it.  Examine the fear to see how unnecessary it truly is.  Both will then leave you...if you truly want them to.

7/22/2009 Find something about yourself that you don't understand and investigate it.  Look not for justification or blame, but to the real nature of why it is the way it is.

7/9/09 Identify each worry and connect it back to the corresponding false notion of security that causes it.  For example if you are insecure, it is only because you have a grandiose image of yourself which is not being affirmed.  If you feel as though you don't have enough money, it is because you are convinced you deserve more, etc.

6/17/09 Pay attention to how you filter what you hear from any individual through the opinion you have of them.  See the fact that the same words coming form an entirely different person would have a different meaning to you.  This proves that you are not hearing the words in their pure form- you are hearing them through your own prejudicial filter.

6/11/09 Get to the truth about your pain including anger, self pity and confusion.  See that you hold onto it for one reason, you actually get a thrill from it.  Identify the actual pleasure you get out of those emotions.  Only when you see it, can you let go of it.

5/30/09 Identify when a thought or memory is attached to a physical sense such as taste, smell or sounds.  Clearly see the connection between the two.

5/16/09 Find joy in realizing that you do not know something that you have thus far been convinced you had known.  This opens up the wonderful possibility to really know what it is that you had only thought you had known.

5/9/09 Take the action of inaction.  In some case where you feel you MUST act, simply do not.  Pay close attention to what happens when you do this.

4/29/09 Find a false freedom. A false freedom is something that you think is a freedom which is really a prison. For example, someone may say "I can speak my mind whenever I choose," but are really trapped by maintaining the identity that they are a person who always speaks their mind.

4/22/09 Through awareness, identify an emotional or security "need" which is really just a "want" and live without it.  See it through to the end, meaning, until you learn that you don't really need it.

4/17/09 During an activity by which you are captivated, such as watching television, games or listening to music, snap yourself back to reality quickly by looking around you and seeing where you are physically.  Pay close attention to how your mind reacts to such a change and how it feels to be aware vs. asleep.

4/10/09 Live at least one entire day without your watch or looking at clocks.  Do what comes next without regard for time.  When you are hungry-eat, tired-sleep, etc.  Make no time sensitive plans or appointments that affect others.

4/6/09 In any personal reflection you might have, ask yourself "who is being thought about?" Or in other words, when you think about you, attempt to define the subject of that thought.

3/26/09 When you make a judgment about your own actions/thoughts, find the position from which the judgment is made.  In other words, if you do a regrettable thing, determine who or what you believe you are that you should not make such an error.

3/18/09 Find as many instances where you think you are creating happiness, but are really creating pain...or instances where you think you are helping, but are truly hurting.

3/10/09 Identify the Ego's motivation in beginning any conversation with another person.

2/25/09 Deny yourself the false pleasure of a current obsession.

2/19/09 Identify moments of impatience and do nothing to quell them.  Just be impatient and know it.  Watch how you want to fight to do something about it.

2/11/09 Do not identify your self to anyone else by way of saying "I am..."   Such as I am a musician, or I am an entrepreneur.  This also includes character identifications such as I am ambitious, or I am reserved.  See how often you want to do this!

2/4/09 Attempt to not criticize or compliment anyone.

1/28/09 Let go of a false friend.

1/21/09 Do not preclude any conversation with the words "I will tell you something if you promise not to tell anyone else."  or any other similar statement.  Instead, don't speak at all of the sensational sitaution or speak freely of it without requiring another human being to make a promise they cannot keep any more than you could.  If someone else does this to you, simply say "I cannot make that promise so please do not tell."  Watch this send your Ego into a wild frenzy of confusion and anxiety.

1/14/09 See a problem approach your mind and let it pass without interfering with it.  As it comes into your mind do not stop it in order to consider it or to argue with it.  Watch it go just as it arrived.

1/06/09 Find occurances where you belive you are thinking more spiritually, however what you are really doing is replacing one Ego thought with another, which simply appears to be more spiritual.

12/30/08 Be aware of the judgment you make upon each person you encounter.  See that you approve or disapprove of something (or everything) about them immediately.  Watch the thougths as they stream through your mind.

12/23/08 The next time someone corrects or criticizes you, do not react at all.

12/16/08 Resist mechanical replies to others such as "you too" or thoughtless greetings such as "morning." This includes auto replies such as "gothcha" or "can do."  Make sure everything you say is said in acute awareness

12/09/08 Find a hidden pain inside of yourself.  Something that you have never seen or know before.

12/02/08 Ask yourself this question as often as possible, particularly when you make an assumption, have an opnion or see something new:  "I wonder if that is REALLY true or not?"

11/25/08 Resist at least one unnecessary daily routine.  It may be watching a television show, reading the paper, eating a particular food or snack, etc.  Watch how you react to the resistance.

11/18/08 Be Self Reliant.  In small ways such as not asking others around you to do trivial tasks (such as turning the lights out) and in bigger ways such as asking everyone for advice or their opinion.  Solve your problems yourself for once.
